Maintain the refrigerator
Some refrigerators have accessible condenser coils and others do not. The exact model manual takes priority over a universal coil-cleaning schedule.
Recommended timingInspect every 6 months; follow the model manual
What to do
- Clean door gaskets and confirm they seal continuously; remove dust from accessible intake and discharge grilles.
- If the manual calls for condenser cleaning, disconnect power and use a soft brush or vacuum without bending fins or disturbing water lines.
- Replace the water filter on the model's indicator or schedule and flush it as instructed.
- Vacuum and inspect behind or beneath the unit only when it can be moved without damaging flooring, electrical cords or water tubing.
- Keep refrigerator and freezer temperatures at the manufacturer's recommended settings and investigate sustained changes.
