Maintain a gas oven and range
Clean burner ports and intact seals support even ignition and reduce flare-ups, but gas adjustments are professional work.
Recommended timingClean spills promptly; inspect seasonally
What to do
- When cool, clean spills from the cooktop, burner caps and grates using the owner's-manual method; return caps to their correct positions.
- Keep burner ports clear without enlarging or damaging them.
- Clean the oven before heavy buildup develops and protect the door gasket from abrasion or chemicals.
- Use the self-clean or steam-clean feature only as directed, with ventilation, and never block oven vents.
- Have delayed ignition, uneven flame, soot or gas odor evaluated by a qualified appliance or gas technician.
If you smell gas, stop using the appliance, leave the area and follow the gas supplier's emergency instructions.
