Maintain an electric oven and range
Regular light cleaning prevents heavy buildup and protects the cooktop, heating elements and door seal.
Recommended timingClean spills promptly; deep-clean seasonally
What to do
- Clean cooktop spills after the surface cools using products approved for the surface; do not use the cooktop as a work surface.
- Remove oven spills before they bake on and deep-clean about seasonally or as use requires.
- Do not cover the oven bottom or racks with foil unless the manufacturer specifically permits it.
- Use self-clean or steam-clean modes only as the manual directs, ventilate the kitchen and avoid rubbing or moving the door gasket.
- Have damaged elements, wiring, controls or repeated breaker trips serviced professionally.
