Retest the home for radon

Radon levels can change over time. EPA says retesting at least every two years is a good idea, and earlier testing is appropriate after structural or occupancy changes.

Recommended timingAbout every 2 years and after major changes

What to do

  1. Retest about every two years, following the test-device directions and closed-house conditions when required.
  2. Retest after structural changes, significant foundation work or when a lower level begins being used more regularly.
  3. If a mitigation system is installed, confirm its fan remains on and its monitor or warning device shows normal operation.
  4. Keep test results and mitigation service records with the home records.
