Maintain a window or through-wall air conditioner
Room air conditioners need clean airflow, unrestricted condensate drainage and a weather-tight, securely supported installation.
Recommended timingFilter monthly during use; seasonal cleaning
What to do
- Turn the unit off and unplug it or use its dedicated disconnect before homeowner cleaning.
- Check the filter monthly during use and clean or replace it exactly as the model manual directs.
- Keep indoor and outdoor grilles clear, gently clean accessible surfaces and do not bend coil fins or spray electrical components.
- Confirm condensate drains outdoors as designed and that the sleeve, support, sealant and surrounding finishes remain secure and weather-tight.
- Use qualified service for refrigerant, damaged cords or plugs, persistent leakage, mold inside inaccessible components, unusual noise or repeated trips.
Do not open electrical or refrigerant compartments. Follow the exact removal and seasonal-storage instructions for window-mounted units.
