Heating & cooling

Use and maintain an ethanol fireplace safely

Pourable alcohol fuel can ignite rapidly and may burn with a flame that is difficult to see. Refueling and fuel compatibility are critical safety issues.

Recommended timingCheck before every use; clean only when cool

What to do

  1. Read the exact appliance and fuel instructions and use only the fuel type and filling container specified by the manufacturer.
  2. Confirm the burner is completely extinguished and fully cool before refueling; never pour fuel into a burning, hot or recently used burner.
  3. Keep the appliance stable and maintain required clearances from curtains, furniture, decorations, children and pets.
  4. Clean spills before ignition using the manufacturer's method, keep the approved extinguishing tool nearby and never leave the flame unattended.
  5. Check the burner, lid, seals and surrounding surfaces for damage or corrosion and stop use if the flame cannot be controlled normally.
Safety and service boundary

Never refuel a hot or burning appliance. If fire spreads beyond the burner, evacuate and call emergency services rather than attempting to move it.
